Mentor Profile

Professor Oguzhan Alagoz is the faculty director for the QSI Student Lab. His research is focused on operations research and mathematical modeling in healthcare.

Professor Alagoz was first attracted to the healthcare industry while searching for his PhD dissertation, where he wanted to explore an area that he would be able to make a major impact in. Today, Prof. Alagoz is among the pioneers to contribute to the area, attracting more industrial engineers into the field. Aside from facilitating improvement opportunities in healthcare, Prof. Alagoz enjoys the idea of contributing to improved care for patients, as well as interacting with people who have diverse interdisciplinary backgrounds.

Professor Alagoz’s favorite aspect of working with the QSI student lab is the ability to see the students’ growth and success throughout their projects. Working with QSI has added to his passion for teaching, as he is able to observe how the training in the Industrial Engineering program helps students to take on serious projects in healthcare.
