Reason for joining the lab: I wanted a way to combine engineering and my passion to provide a better healthcare system. The lab is a great way to really experience healthcare and make a lasting difference in the Madison community. 

Lab Projects: Pediatric to Adult Care Transition (current), Add/Cancel Clinic Scheduling, Therapy Request and Evaluation Project, Avoidable Days Reduction, MRI Add-On Scheduling Improvement 


John Sandgren

Year in School: MS Student

Graduation Date: May 2018

Reason for joining the lab: I have always been fascinated with the healthcare system and wanted to learn more about how it works.  The QSI Lab also provided me with an opportunity to use the tools I learn in the classroom to increase the quality of patient care, which is a very practical way to see the effect of my work.

Reason for joining the lab: I've always had a passion for health care and love my engineering classes. QSI is a great way to combine these two things and work toward a better healthcare experience.

Reason for joining the lab: Throughout my life I have experienced both the wonderful and annoying aspects of the healthcare industry. This lab allows me to use my engineering mindset to target and improve the annoying, inefficient aspects present in healthcare today while maintaining the wonderful interactions that patients can have with healthcare professionals.

Reason for joining the lab: I've always believed healthcare has an important impact on people's lives and I am interested in how I can apply my industrial engineering background to make a positive impact on the field.

Reasons for joining the lab: My whole life I knew I wanted to help people through the healthcare industry. When I found the QSI and learned that it allowed me to work on real projects in healthcare before graduation I knew I had to join!
