Briana Krueger

Reasons for joining the lab: I love healthcare, and QSI is a great way to merge that with my engineering studies. It is amazing to be able to work indirectly in the medical field!

Zuf Wang

Year in School: MS Student

Graduation Date: December 2017

Reasons for joining the lab: I took MedPhysics 559 from Prof. Thomadsen and was hooked by the juxtaposition of health care and IE.  I want to gain more practical experience in healthcare systems engineering, and QSI is the place to be.

Lab Projects: Discharge DME process improvement, HIM Record Validation Workflow. 

Fun Fact: I solo backpacked through parts of Europe shortly after I turned 18. It was a riot.




Madeline Ford
Year in School: Senior

Graduation Date: May 2017

Reasons for joining the lab: I wanted a way to combine engineering and my passion to provide a better healthcare system. The lab is a great way to really experience the healthcare and make a lasting difference in the Madison community.

John Sandgren

Graduation Date: May 2017

Reasons for joining the lab: I have always been fascinated with the healthcare system and wanted to learn more about how it works.  The QSI Lab also provided me with an opportunity to use the tools I learn in the classroom to increase the quality of patient care, which is a very practical way to see the effect of my work.

Lab Projects: Therapy Request and Evaluation Project.

Fun FactI love to play the drums!  I love music in general and mess around on other instruments as well.

Reasons for joining the lab: I've always had a passion for health care and love my engineering classes. QSI is a great way to combine these two things and work toward a better healthcare experience.


Fun Fact: I am first generation American on my dad's side. Half my family lives in Guatemala and speaks English as a second language!

Reasons for joining the lab: I've always believed healthcare has an important impact on people's lives and I am interested in how I can apply my industrial engineering background to make a positive impact on the field. 


Fun Fact:  I have worked for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland's Industrial Engineering teams.






Emily Egge

Reasons for joining the lab: My interest in improving the health care field and learning more about the application of Industrial Engineering as it relates to health systems. 


Fun Fact: I've run 3 half marathons.

Reasons for joining the lab: An industrial engineering education has seemingly limitless applications, and one area I’ve always been interested in applying my skills is in healthcare. The QSI Lab is giving me an opportunity to do just that, and I hope to see my work have a positive impact on the lives of others.


Fun Fact: My fourth grade football team went 12-0. That was my peak.

Reasons for joining the lab: I wanted to learn more about the healthcare field and how industrial engineering principles can be applied, hopefully helping someone in the process.
